Heterotroph

This is a zebra eating its breakfast. Why is it eating? Its eating because it does not produce its own food like a plant would! This zebra is a heterotroph. Heterotrophs are organisms unable to obtain carbon from carbon dioxide so they obtain carbon by consuming organic material in other organisms. All animals are heterotrophs.
