Hermaphrodite

Hermaphrodites are organisms that function as both female and male during sexual reproduction and they produce both eggs and sperm. This picture is of an earthworm, which is a common hermaphrodite. Hermaphroditism is beneficial in the fact that if a species is non-mobile or lives a mainly solitary life it allows the organism the chance that if it ever meets another member of its species it can mate with them no matter its sex and it can result in double the offspring.Image
