Phloem

Phloem

This is the trunk of a tree; which contains phloem. Phloem is found in all plants and is a mass of living tissue that conducts sugar throughout the plant. In trees that experience secondary growth, secondary phloem grows outward towards the bark as primary phloem remains adjacent to the vascular cambium. Secondary phloem makes up the bark along with the cork.
