Pollinator

Pollinator

In the photo is a butterfly; disguised as a leaf. One of its many roles in the ecosystem is to function as a pollinator. A pollinator is an animal that carries pollen from one flower to another, thus fertilizing multiple flowers allowing for genetic variation. Insects such as butterflies and bees function as the best pollinators. The butterfly will brush against certain parts of the flower on different ones to transfer the gametes.
