Tropism

The grass in this photo is the most common example of tropism. Tropism is the process when organism responds to an environmental stimulus. Phototropism is displayed by plants when they grow towards light. Gravitropism is displayed when roots grow downwards in response to gravity and hormones. Both cases are activated and controlled by auxin. Unlike taxis, the organism doesn’t have mobility in tropism.
