Detritovore: Fungi

Is any organism that breaks down or decomposes another organism. Mushrooms are commonly known to be detritovore. Organisms such as worms as well as bacteria can also be detritovore. They are important to the animal ecosystem because they clean up an ecosystem of dead organism. In soil they also return vital nutrients that help plants gain nutrients from the soil. Many bacteria work to break down and decompose organisms at a molecular level.
