The definition of a hermaphrodite is an organism that hold both male and female reproductive systems. The picture is that of a flower in which the majority of the time they are hermaphrodites. Other examples of hermaphrodites are some fish and insects. A flower contains pollen, which is the male genosperm, and it also contains a female ovary. There are some rare cases in which a human will contain both the reproductive system of a female and a male, these individuals usually end up being sterile.
