Xylem: Wood

Xylem: Wood

Xylem is one of the two types of transporting tissue found in vascular plants. The basic function of xylem is the transport of water but it also transports many nutrients throughout the plant. This is done by specialized tissues that consist of elongated, hollow cells. Xylem makes up the majority of a mature woody stem.
