Frond: Fern

The photo below shows a picture of a fern. Leaves of ferns are typically known as fronds, but palm tree leaves can also be known as fronds. Fronds are larger, divided leaves. A frond can have many divisions into very small leaves or a main leaf with divisions coming off the sides, like the picture below. Fronds are found on all ferns, and some botanists may apply it to plants like palm trees or cycads. The term “palm frond” refers to a leaf of the palm tree being a frond, even though to botanical definition corresponds are frond to a fern leaf.
