CAM plant

CAM stands for crassulacean acid metabolism, which is an adaptation for photosynthesis is arid climates. Carbon dioxide entering open stomata during the night is converted to organic acids, which release carbon dioxide for the Calvin cycle during the day, while stomata are closed. The cactus in the picture is a CAM plant.
