Animal with Segmented Body

Segmentation is the repetitive division of an animal’s body into body plans. In an ant, there exist three main segments: the thorax, the abdomen, and the head. These non- similar segments are called tagmata, as seen with this ant. A tagma is the grouping of specialized segments into one functioning unit, in this case, referring to the morphology and composition of the phylum Arthropoda.
