Predation can be described as the act of a predator consuming or killing another organism. Predation usually ends up with the predator eating or absorbing the other organism’s tissue. Predation occurs at many different levels of the animal’s kingdom. We can see it from a simple ant eating a larger insect to a lion chasing down an antelope to eat. Predation is a vital part of the animal kingdom. Not only does predation refer to one large organism eating a smaller one. But it also refers to an organism consuming a plant for it vital nutrition. Thus an herbivore consuming a plant also fits into the category or predation.
