Heterotroph

A heterotroph is an organism that ingests another organism as food to obtain nutrition and energy. All animals are heterotrophs and are classified as omnivores, carnivores, or herbivores, depending on what they eat. A frog is considered a heterotroph because it eats other organisms as food, in this case, flies and mosquitos.
