Mycelium

Mushrooms arise when two compatible mycelium, homokaryotic, in this case, join. Through the junction of two of these mycelia, a diakaryotic mycelium arises and creates fruiting bodies (mushrooms). The mycelium is also the vegetative area of a fungus.
