Organisms in Different Animal Phyla: Arthropoda

The kingdom Animalia can be classified in many different phyla, including, Cnideria, Nematoda, Annelida, Chordata, Echinodermata, amd Mollusca. Out of all of these, animals from the phyla Arthropoda are considered to be the most successful. Arthropods are known for their segmented bodies, jointed appendages, and exoskeletons.  They can  be found in a myriad of different climates and conditions throughout the world. Some examples of arthropods are crabs, lobsters, and insects. The picture shown above is that of an insect. Insects are especially successful due to their wings. Unlike other animals that must give up some sort of a limb to have wings, the wings of insects are an extension of their exoskeleton.
