Anther and Filament of the Stamen(2)

The anther, as pictured in the flower above, is a small bulb on the end of a tube called the filament. The anther produces pollen for the plant while the filament holds up the anther so that pollen spreading elements can reach it. Together, the anther and filament make up the stamen, or male reproductive system of the flowering plants.
