C3 Plant

This is a picture of a plant with very large, broad leaves. Broad leaves are a sign of a C3 plant because these plants absorb lots of sunlight and need surface area to complete photorespiration. C3 plants live in areas with high CO2 concentrations, moderate light, and lots of ground water. Stomata stay closed most of the time to retain water. C3 plants involve direct carbon fixation of CO2.
