Stigma and style of carpel

View 118_1485.JPG in slide show

The carpel is the female part of the flower’s reproductive system. The stigma and the style are parts of the carpel. The stigma is the uppermost part (the yellow tips) that is usually sticky and captures the pollen from the wind, water, or an animal. The pollen then germinates on the stigma. The style is the long tube like part through which the pollen grows until it reaches the ovary.
