Xylem is nonliving vascular tissue that transports water throughout the plant. Xylem use transpirational pull, or the displacement caused by evaporation from the leaf, to pull the water up from the roots into the rest of the plant. Capillary action balances the gravity and adhesion and cohesion also play a role in the upward flow of water. This plant is vascular, and contains xylem that allow it to transport water upwards from the roots to the rest of the plant.
