Redox Reaction

A redox reaction (also known as oxidation-reduction reaction) involves the transfer of electrons between two reactants. The reactant that loses an electron is oxidized and the reactant that gains an electron is said to be reduced. Each reaction by itself is called a half-reaction. In cellular respiration, glucose is oxidized and oxygen is reduced to water.
