Adenonine Triphosphate, or ATP, is what transports chemical energy within cells for metabolism. The energy is stored in the phosphate bonds. In this picture is a bicep muscle of a human. Without ATP, none of the natural life processes could proceed because ATP provides energy for metabolism. ATP is widely considered the universal energy currency.
