Long Day Plant
Photoperiodism is the reaction of an organism to how long the days or nights are. Long day plants flower when the days get longer. Long day plants on the top half of the globe usually flower during early summer right up to the summer solstice (the longest day of the year), and stop blooming as the days become shorter. Lettuce is a common long day plant used every day in salads and sandwiches.
