Gymnosperm leaf
Gymnosperms are seed bearing plants that don’t have the special features of a flowering plant. The name gymnosperm means “naked seed” meaning the gymnosperm seed is not enclosed in a fruit as an angiosperm is. The leaves of gymnosperms are very variable. Most gymnosperms are evergreen meaning their leaves last more than one growing season unlike deciduous trees which shed their leaves at the end of every growing season.
