Modified stem of a plant #2
This is a picture of a banana. A banana is a cultivated plant that forms a corm. A corm is a short, vertical, swollen, underground plant stem that some plants use to store materials through winter. This modified plant stem is made up of numerous internodes with a growing point. The leaves of a corm are usually made to be protective coverings called tunics. The tunic is formed from the remains of leaves produced in previous years. Plants with corms(banana plants) can be reproduced by cutting up the corms and replanting, and each bud can form a new corm.
