A pine tree is an example of a gymnosperm. Gymnosperms are classified by their seed plants that make seeds which are not enclosed in an ovary. They also do not require water for pollen transfer which lets this type of plant to grow in a plethora of places. Along with angiosperms, gymnosperms are the dominant type of land plant.
